Cars 2 Trailer Now in Lego

From the brilliant mind that brought you the Iron Baby and At-AT Day Afternoon, comes the entire Cars 2 trailer in lego. This makes me envious of his collection, and now I want to try and make Starship Troopers out of Lego.

Hobbit Casting News

Hobbit Set Pic

Word from Middle Earth is that two BIG celebrities have joined the cast for Peter Jackson’s: The Hobbit. Straight from the annals of geekdom comes Stephen Fry. If you have to google/IMDB his name SHAME ON YOU. But if you must have some sort of resume/CV, he was in V for Vendetta, the narrator of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and star of Fry and Laurie (Brittan’s version of Terrance and Philip) (not really). Fry will be playing the Master of Laketown.

Secondly is a star big in stature: Conan Stevens. The Giggaheim would like to know if all children named Conan are destined to be tall. At 7-feet, Conan Stevens is currently known as Ser Gregor Clegane on Game of Thrones. In The Hobbit, he will be Azog the Orc.

If you want Giggaheim to spoon-feed you the news, we’ll let you, but if you want to eat at the big kid’s table of Fandom, follow Peter Jackson’s Facebook page for the latest updates.

Star Tours Returns

The Giggaheim was lucky enough to attend Star Wars Celebration V last year in Orlando, Florida, and also the Last Tour to Endor. We were one of the last people to ride the dated simulator, and then Darth Vader and the 501st Legion shut it down. Disney Imagineers have been hard at work on the new ride, and it will open soon. Here is the TV spot they are running.

Star Wars Dating Film

OncMinuteGalactica created a mashup of the 1950’s instructional film: Who’s Right? And Star Wars. The gorgeous feature clearly illustrates the dangers of dating, with a Han and Lea twist. Great job Galactica!

Monsters University Plot Summary

Well, here is the plot summary for Pixar’s prequel to Monsters Inc.:

monsters-university

Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other. Monsters University unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends.

An there it is. Not a lot, eh?

X-Men Frist Class: Magic Trick

Okay, now I want to see this. I know, I know, I was worried about this on one of the previous podcasts because of the time between shooting and release, because of the casting, because of the prequel poison we have all be subject to at the movies, but this looks good.

Seriously. This TV spot has converted me. And what better way to get into X-Men? It’s probably one of the most prolific and convoluted storylines in comics, and in the movies it could get even weirder with sequels a prequels screwing up our perception of Marvel’s mutants. But, this looks like it is in the true spirit of First Class. A young team, and a wide-eyed world that has to accept the ideas of mutants among them.

I’m in.

Gandalf 3D

Peter Jackson has been sharing set photos from The Hobbit, and yesterday’s was a real gem:

Gandalf 3D

Jackson commented:

“The Hobbit is being filmed in 3D. Even wizards have to wear the glasses. Snapped by Peter Jackson in Wellington, 2011.”
