Mafia Wars….The Movie?

Mafia Wars the movieFrom the WTF file…Pajiba.com is reporting that the popular Facebook game Mafia Wars is being developed into a movie. Here’s an excerpt from Pajiba:

Details are scant on the project, as what could the details possibly involve besides the logline, “crime thriller based on the popular video game.” Ted Field and Radar Pictures are developing the project, and given Radar Pictures’ recent output — Swing Vote, The Invention of Lying, All About Steve, Everybody’s Fine, and The Box — I wouldn’t buy a lot of HSX stock based on the idea.

Wonder Woman Changes Outfits

Wonder Woman Gets New OutfitAs part of her seminal #600 issue, Wonder Woman is changing her duds. DC Comics is changing their lead female comic book hero’s look, and probably hoping new sales will go with it. Our Comic Book commentator/review Pete, is hoping to score one of these special comics at his local shop, and will dish out the details in Podcast Episode #18.

J. Michael Straczynski, is quoted by the DC Comics:

“It’s a look designed to be taken seriously as a warrior, in partial answer to the many female fans over the years who’ve asked, ‘how does she fight in that thing without all her parts falling out?…It reflects her origins in both the outside world and the world of Amazons: tough, elegant…a street-fighter’s look which also incorporates elements of her classic design,” Straczynski further explained in the press materials. “It reflects the two sides warring for ultimate victory, and underscores the path she must take.”

We’ll see how it looks on Wednesday, and if we get a chance, we’ll post images as we get them.

Alice Eve to Play Emma Frost in Xmen:First Class

Alice Eve as Emma FrostDeadline Hollywood is reporting that Alice Eve will be playing the character of Emma Frost in the upcoming “X-men First Class” movie. The casting choice is pretty dead on since the character is a smoking hot blonde British bombshell. Over the years of continuity in the X-Books, Emma Frost has been the White Queen in the Hellfire Club, and currently helps lead the X-men and is Scott Summers’ (Cyclops) girlfriend. A diamond covered girl with psychic powers was briefly in “Wolverine: Origins” movie last year, so her journey to screen is almost complete. We at Giggaheim give this casting news two thumbs up!
